1991

The story of Born to Be Elite began in 1991 with the entrepreneurial spirit of Yousaf Yaqoob, a visionary who wanted to create something of his own. While still pursuing his studies, Yousaf made the bold decision to step into the world of business and founded Ocean Trader, a textile manufacturing company. Driven by his desire to be his own boss, he started with a small textile factory, focusing on producing high-quality garments and laying the foundation for what would become a global wholesale business.

1992

In 1992, Yousaf’s journey took a significant turn when he moved to Cyprus for his studies. There, he saw an opportunity to expand his reach and started an offshore wholesale business. He quickly began supplying major retail chains with apparel, earning a reputation for consistent quality and reliable service.

2000

In the year 2000, seeking new challenges and opportunities, Yousaf moved with his family to Canada. Despite arriving with zero contacts in the Canadian market, his entrepreneurial drive and unwavering commitment to excellence allowed him to build a successful wholesale business from the ground up. By forging strong relationships with prominent retail brands, Yousaf grew his company and became a trusted supplier of wholesale apparel to well-known labels across the country.

2009

In 2009, determined to gain more control over the manufacturing process and improve product quality, Yousaf opened a factory in Pakistan, where he could produce garments under his own supervision. This move was pivotal, enabling him to ensure higher standards of quality control and further elevate the reputation of the brand.

2019

In 2019, a new chapter began as Born to Be Elite was taken over by Yousaf’s daughter, the current owner. With a fresh vision and commitment to maintaining the family legacy, she rebranded the business as Born to Be Elite, marking a new era while honoring the principles of quality, consistency, and reliability that had defined the company from its inception.

Today, Born to Be Elite is a family-owned business that has served clients for over 30 years. From humble beginnings to international growth, our company continues to deliver high-quality wholesale apparel to businesses large and small. We are proud of our rich history and excited for the future as we continue to build on the strong foundation laid by Yousaf Yaqoob.
